Madre Terra, Sardinia, 2021
The LaserFilm 2021–2022 calendar was born from a necessity: to bring light.
2020 was an overwhelming year for many reasons, but there was a moment when everything seemed as though it could return to normal: the arrival of summer had brought with it the idea of a new beginning.
In that precise moment, this calendar was conceived and that is why it begins with June 2021 and ends with May 2022.
I have a vision of hope, and even maintaining simple traditions like the LaserFilm calendar can help remind us of the continuity we need.
I thought that an island unique in its history, imagination and landscape and human qualities could tell the perfect story. When I think of our planet, I often call it “Mother Earth”, as an expression of deep love. Love is the feeling that allows us to continue on our path, to perpetuate our species, to set everything in motion.
In the name of this love, we went in search of a land that in many ways remains unknown — Sardinia — drawn by the mysteries it holds, such as the longevity of its inhabitants.
We met its people, listened to them and photographed them. What struck us most about this journey was the intimate and deep bond these people maintain with their island, even though Sardinia is not always an easy place to live. Perhaps this is the secret to their longevity, the perfect balance in which man and nature coexist. It is a long journey, but my wish for all of us is that we may rediscover that balance and harmony.
